Why block MySpace?

Myspace allows children to contact people over the internet. They make 'friends' with people that they can not be sure are genuine and that can lead to problems.

MySpace also encourages people (including children) to put photographs and other details about themselves into the MySpace system. It may well be an innocent but time-wasting exercise, but as the people who contact them are not 'vetted', it is not something that a parent should allow.

MySpace, like many good ideas, if used properly be a useful social network - and for all but a few rare cases it is. However, it seems that the very small minority are again spoiling it for the rest.

Should I block MySpace in our company?

Well, MySpace will not be the same danger for adults that it can hold for children. However, MySpace is just another chat program and blocking MySpace will stop your employees wasting their work time chatting to their new 'aquaintances'.
