Public libraries were an unexpected market for TerminatorX. Warren Software's
first sale was to a library in Canada, and interest has increased from there.
A Library will benefit from the
security that TerminatorX v2 offers. They will:
- reduce viruses from downloaded
applications and Messengers
- waste less Internet bandwidth on
file sharing and games
- lessen the risk of prosecution for
pirated software, music and video
- get faster response times on their
computer systems
- require less computer maintenance caused by
viruses and downloaded
software.
You can control what people to do on your computers. You can permit or ban activities.
Why do you need TerminatorX?
You can't watch all of your public access computers all of the time. OK, when you walk
near to the computers, the members of the public do not appear to be doing
anything wrong. What
happens when you are not there?
The general public are mostly law abiding responsible adults. There are,
however, a few rogue elements that spoil it for the rest. They will spend hours
chatting to each other using your bandwidth and computer access time. They will
attempt to obtain
the latest video or music sensation. What this can mean to you is at best a string of repairs to 'faulty' computers and at worst
prosecution for allowing your computers to be used for pirating.
TerminatorX runs invisibly, looking at the
applications and web sites that are running. Those matching a banned list
chosen by the network administrator are
simply shut down within a second of them being started.
How much does
TerminatorX cost?
TerminatorX is inexpensive as it was originally aimed at Education.
The licensing terms allow flexibility - the cost is not dependent on the number of
servers or computers in a library. The Site license covers an area:
Site license - an unlimited number of workstations on an unlimited number of servers
within a single organisation. The workstations must be enclosed within a circle of diameter 200 metres.
Each license covers one such circle. More than one license is required if your organisation wishes
to use TerminatorX on workstations that are not within a single such area.
You can use TerminatorX across
a whole site (200 metre diameter) for just £200
Multiple license discounts are available for
libraries with 2 or more 'Sites'.
